World Gratest Shave 2012

Be Brave & shave or colour your hair to raise funds for blood cancer research and free support.
More than 125,000 people will sign up to shave or colour their hair, raising funds for research and free services for people with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and related blood disorders.

This event raises around half of the funds the Leukaemia Foundation needs for its Vision to Cure and Mission to Care each year.
The Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave is one of Australia’s most popoular fundraising events.

There are hundreds of events this weekend across the country from 15-18 March.
They're all free to attend, with hairdressers and equipment all provided. Whether you're shaving or colouring, the more money you raise the more people we can help.

So come to Stockland Hervey Bay on 16 and 17th March and help
raise the funds.

Hervey Bay Family Fishing Competition

20th Hervey Bay Family Fishing Competition 2012 organised by the Hervey Bay Boat Club Fishing and Social Club will be held from Thursday, March 8 to Sunday, March 11 2012 at Dayman Park in Pulgul Street, Urangan, Hervey Bay. There will be hundreds of prizes to win and you don't even have to catch a fish to be in the running for most of them.

Many entrants don't fish at all and simply go along to enjoy the atmosphere at the presentations, partake in the food and refreshments, perhaps win two boats, a computer, one of hundreds of prizes in the lucky draws or the $1000 cash drawn every day sponsored by the Boat Club.

Draws and presentation times are Thursday, Friday and Saturday 6pm to about 8pm and Sunday 12noon to about 3pm and entry fees are seniors $30 and juniors $10.

Sunday In The Park

Maryborough's Sunday in the Park is a relaxed morning of fun, food, brass bands, steam train rides, river cruises, "Stroll in Queens Park" tours with Mary, Town Crier, firing of the time cannon and traditional children's games and activities.

Brass bands play inside a graceful old band rotunda in Queens Park. All morning, the Mary Ann, a full sized replica of Queensland’s first steam locomotive built in Maryborough in 1873, chugs along the riverside taking passengers through Queens Park and the Mary River Parklands.

Children and adults can also climb onboard one of the miniature steam engines, which run on a circuit around Queens Park. The sight of little legs dangling from tiny carriages as the trains weave around the track is guaranteed to delight. It’s a tradition begun by the city’s Model Engineers and Live Steamers Association over 30 years ago – and one that uniquely captures Maryborough’s carefree, family-friendly lifestyle.
