RACQ Technology Challenge 12 & 13 September 2015
Described as the teenage equivalent of Bathurst, thousands of students with a thirst for speed, a bent for technology, and an eye to the future can't be wrong. The RACQ Technology Challenge around Maryborough's inner city streets is a brilliant showcase of the technological skills of Queensland's youth where students design, build and race alternative transport machines of the future.
The feature event is the adrenalin-fuelled, action-packed Hour Human Powered Vehicle Queensland Championships where teams pedal aerodynamically designed machines at blistering speeds for 24 hours around an inner-city track. Solar boats and cars, robotics and miniature dragsters powered by carbon dioxide are also part of the RACQ Technology Challenge, which includes five state titles.
New highlights include a Technology Expo - showcasing all kinds of technological excellence from the past, present and future, including hybrid cars.
